Educated people are well-read and able to discuss and relate to central works of literature, science, art, architecture, and music. We expect our graduates to be well read in the important literature and ideas of Christian theology and the West.

  1. A defender of the faith as well as a scholar

With the Word of God as their foundation, graduates should be able to proclaim Jesus Christ as Lord, being fully mature in Him, able to winsomely and graciously war for truth in their families, churches, and vocations, fulfilling their entire purpose on Earth.

ROMANS 1:16
16 For I am not ashamed of the gospel, for it is the power of God for salvation to everyone who believes, to the Jew first then the Gentile.

ST. THOMAS’S PRAYER BEFORE STUDY
Creator of all things, true source of light and wisdom, origin of all being, graciously let a ray of your light penetrate the darkness of our understanding. Take from us the double darkness in which we have been born, an obscurity of sin and ignorance. Give us keen understanding, retentive memories, and the ability to grasp things correctly and fundamentally. Grant us the talent of being exact in our explanations and the ability to express ourselves with thoroughness and charm. Point out the beginning, direct the progress, and help in the completion. We ask this through Christ our Lord. Amen.
